Job Description

Summary The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation, repair, and ongoing maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facility systems. This role involves conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to equipment malfunctions to ensure optimal operational efficiency. Additional responsibilities may include general building maintenance and support for facility upgrades or modifications. To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. A proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to safety and quality standards are essential. Job Duties Assembles, installs and maintains mechanical systems, machinery and equipment. Troubleshoots equipment and performs routine preventative maintenance. Reads, interprets and follows instructions and operation manuals and schematics. Completes assigned work orders and communicating with the departments throughout the process. Cleans, repairs and installs equipment and parts as needed. Operates a variety of hand and power tools. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Performs general maintenance work on buildings as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Two years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications ~ Completion of Trade School or Associate’s Degree program. ~ Knowledge and ability to operate hand and power tools. ~ Mechanical aptitude and ability. ~ Physical dexterity/ ability to lift heavy objects and use a ladder. ~ Good troubleshooting skills. ~ Knowledge of health and safety regulations. ~      Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.
